FOR IMMEIDATE RELEASE
January 11, 2024
Official Statement from Jack Gaydar
As a long-time Medina County resident with a distinguished career as a public servant, I am proud to announce my candidacy for the office of County Engineer for Medina County, Ohio. The responsibility of an elected official is to serve the community, its residents and business owners, and if I have the privilege of being elected as Medina County Engineer, I will hold that responsibility paramount when executing the duties of the office.
My many years of work experience in both private industry and as a public servant, as well as my commitment to furthering my education and knowledge in the fields of engineering, surveying, civil infrastructure, traffic and transportation, storm water management, process control and improvement, and organization development and management make me the best candidate for County Engineer and Medina County stakeholders. In my 40 years of experience, I successfully managed and implemented the funding, design, and construction of public traffic, roadway, facilities, and storm water drainage projects. As the Engineering Service Manager for Avon Lake for the past 21 years, I successfully oversaw numerous infrastructure maintenance and improvement projects, employed cost-reducing alternative delivery methods, and improved organizational and employee efficiency through my leadership.
As the County Engineer for Medina County, I will work to create community-based partnerships and a collaborative environment with Medina County’s local and township officials, my county government partners, and federal and state agencies to arrive at team-based decisions and solutions that best serve the residents of Medina County. Being effective as a leader also involves listening to residents and business owners as well as soliciting input from experts in relevant fields to reach common goals through common sense approaches with cost-effective outcomes.
The Highway Engineer’s department and its employees should, by definition, be public servants first and foremost with a “How can I help you?” approach to the stakeholders of Medina County. As County Engineer, I will pursue and attempt to secure funding from programs and sources that make fiscally responsible sense for the taxpayers of Medina County and give consideration to cost-effective alternative materials and delivery methods to keep expenditures for infrastructure maintenance and improvement down. My professional experience has made me an advocate for organizational culture change as an effective means of reducing costs and waste. The elimination of redundant responsibilities or overlapping roles among county government departments and the evaluation of developmental efficiencies that could be gained through the use of consulting services will be initiatives I will investigate to maximize value for my constituents.
The implementation of quality and cost-effective construction standards and specifications for the maintenance and improvement of the County’s highway and drainage infrastructure is an important role that I will responsibly undertake in conjunction with the Board of Medina County Commissioners to ensure that Medina County serves the needs of the community now and into the future. As County Engineer I will ensure that contractors, consultants, and vendors doing business with the Highway Engineer will be held to clearly defined specifications and workmanship/quality standards that provide the County with long-lasting infrastructure and equipment at a fair cost.
I invite all Medina County residents to make the best choice for County Engineer of Medina County by voting for me, Jack Gaydar, in the March 2024 primary election and hopefully again in the November 2024 general election.
